ABOUT RENEWABLE NATURAL GAS
TRANSFORMING WASTE INTO ENERGY
When municipal solid waste is deposited at one of Noble’s landfills, it undergoes anaerobic digestion. Over time, anaerobic digestion transforms municipal solid waste into landfill gas (LFG) which is primarily composed of methane. A series of gas collection wells prevent landfill gas from escaping into the atmosphere and instead capture the landfill gas and transport it to a renewable natural gas processing facility located at the landfill.
NOBLE ENVIRONMENTAL’S PROCESS
The processing facility cleans and conditions landfill gas through a series of processes, resulting in Renewable Natural Gas. Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) is pipeline quality gas that is fully interchangeable with conventional natural gas and can be utilized in Noble Environmental’s fleet of compressed natural gas (CNG) refuse trucks or distributed into the gas utility grid to generate electricity, or heat homes!
